Veterinary students can now apply for two scholarship programs offered by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation.
The first is the Merck Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarship Program. These scholarships provide $5,000 to second- and third-year veterinary students in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. The number of scholarships available are as follows:
- Ten scholarships for students with a food animal focus in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean.
- Thirty scholarships for U.S., Canadian, and Caribbean students with a companion animal focus.
- Fourteen scholarships for students in Latin America and Southeast Asia with a food animal or companion animal focus.
Applications for the Merck Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarship Program are being accepted from Nov. 15 through Dec. 31.
In addition, students can apply for an AVMA/AVMF Second Opportunity Summer Research Scholarship. These scholarships are intended to provide support for students who participated in the 2018 Veterinary Scholars Program, sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim, and would like a second summer of research experience.
Up to five students will receive $5,000 stipends plus $1,000 to travel to the 2019 National Veterinary Scholars Symposium at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. The deadline for applications is Jan. 11, 2019.
